Vietnamese Culture Night is an annual student production held in Royce Hall that highlights different aspects of Vietnamese backgrounds, featuring performances by Vietnamese Traditional and Moditional Dance, Awechords Acapella, VSU Modern, UCLA Lion Dance, Lac Hong Performing Arts, and a student-written play. This production is made to tell the stories of the Vietnamese community and culture, offering a window into the experiences that define Vietnamese-Americans.
This year, the performance will center on preserving and celebrating Vietnamese heritage through storytelling. Drawing inspiration from the beloved fairytale Tấm Cám, we will explore the universal themes of love, redemption, and acceptance. VCN 45 will reimagine this cherished tale through new layers of meaning while honoring its origins as a story passed down from generation to generation. Connecting the past and the present, this production seeks to invite the audience to share a space for understanding and reflect on their own stories as they venture to one that shaped their identity.
